About me

Welcome to my blogsite.   I’m a writer of plays, fiction and travel. I’m a great observer of my surroundings and have  a wide range of interests and experiences to blog about. You are likely to come across: swimming, gardening, travel, cycling, arts and culture, gay issues and writing.  You are unlikely to find out what I had for breakfast or which cafes I frequent.

I’m currently based in East London where I have lived for 40 years but alternate between Waiheke Island, New Zealand – planning to spend 2020 there working on a new book.

Did Biology and Ecology at  Uni.

After a brief stint as a teacher, I ran away to join a theatre company in Auckland

Came to London  to study drama, and stayed, working as an actor, director, producer, dramaturg and playwright.

My first play The Davids was produced in 1999 by the London New Play Festival.

Ran a new writing theatre company, Maya Productions, for eighteen years developing writers and teaching playwriting.

Decided to try writing a novel and  Twenty-Two Eighty-Four is my first one and I’m currently working on Gay Dads due for publication some time in the 2020’s. It’s still a work in progress

  1. Hi Chris, I’m a long friend of Sean Carley from back when Sean lived in Canada. I’ve lost Sean’s contact email address since he moved from Waiheke to Australia. Might you either be able to forward my email address to him or send me his new contact information. Either is fine. My partner and I winter north of you in Niue and a fellow ex-Waiheke Islander now lives here (who also knows Sean and his partner). Small world. Thanks Chris, and thanks for the blogs. Kevin
